It can be overwhelming at first, but getting to grips with searching by players, pawn structures, material imbalance, etc. ![]() If you do purchase Chessbase I would recommend spending time learning how to properly use the search features. He has updates every week available as a new download to augment your database with the latest tournament games: I think one valid approach is to just buy the base product without a database and then either use a free collection of games (there are a lot of large free collections available as zip files) or purchase the massive database of games available from Mark Crowther who runs the amazing website "The Week in Chess" which is only about 30 pounds (see link). It can give you a lot of ideas to try out in your own games. I think Chessbase is likely quite unnecessary at your level, but if you love chess, you will get a lot of pleasure out of finding games and structures out of the openings you like to play. ![]()
